Photographing a wedding is always such a privilege. And by the end of the night, I leave feeling like I have become part of the family. But over the past several years, I have actually been a part of that family. Cody and Kelli’s wedding marks the fourth time I have photographed a wedding for a family member. And just like every other one, it holds a special place in my heart.
During Kelli’s bridal shower, she could recite exactly how long she has known every person in the room. She could even narrow it down to the first time they met! She loves her friends and family and it showed in how she reminisced over all those memories. Cody is my cousin and is one of the funniest people I have ever known. That Borland humor is something else. It’ll have you in tears moments after engaging in conversation. He comes from a long line of great story-tellers. Unfortunately, I did not inherit that ability, haha.
Back to Cody and Kelli’s wedding. The weather was perfect! As a photographer, I favor nice even cloud coverage, but the sun popped out a few times throughout the day. The ladies gathered around Kelli as she got ready. Lots of laughs and a few tears were shared. A full bridal suite is a testament to a bride who is deeply loved.
Their ceremony was short, but sweet. Cody and Kelli had just over 200 guests in attendance. And rather than sitting down during their reception, they chose to catch up and share laughs with all their guests. Once again, showing how much they value their friends and family.
Overall, the day was wonderful. Besides one small incident involving some wine and Kelli’s dress, everything went great! And we did get the wine out 🙂 Wedding days always go by too fast. But that is why I am there!
Congratulations Cody and Kelli!
